Vol. 14 No. 27 (2020): Eleatic Ontology Project I
The Anais de Filosofia Clássica (Annals of Classical Philosophy) publishes the 14th volume of 2020 with a renewed editorial impetus for classical studies with an international perspective. We have implemented the digital indexers DOI and ORCID and redesigned the layout of the articles. We have broadened our horizons of international collaboration, now also with Professor Rose Cherubin of George Mason University, in a project that integrates the English language more strongly with the Romance languages of the European and Latin American universities with which we already collaborated. The international and multilingual network comes in these issues with articles in English, Portuguese, French and Italian, some published in bilingual versions, as the English and French versions of Nestor Cordero's and the Italian and English versions of Guido Calenda’s and Walter Fratticci’s articles.
In the dossier of volume 14, we inaugurated the Project EON – Eleatic Ontology: origin and reception, conceived by Nicola Galgano (PUC-SP; USP), a broad work of international cooperation that should extend over several years and various means of publication. The first Tome of Volume 1 is being published in our issues of 2020, making up the special dossier of Volume 14 of the journal.
The choice to start with the AFC is no accident. The journal opened with a volume entirely dedicated to Parmenides in 2007, right after an international symposium dedicated to the philosopher, held in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This welcome from the EON Project allowed us to add the original languages in which some of the texts were written. Seven authors appear in number 27 and eight more in number 28, under the editorial care of Rose Cherubin and Nicola Galgano.
The journal continues to receive articles and reviews in continuous flow, such as the article on rhetorical love at the Banquet, by Felipe da Silva (UFPE), the review of Arenson's book on hedonism by João Conque (UFMG).
We also have an excellent work of translation and commentary on Book III of Diogenes Laertius’ Vitae Philosophorum, by Reina Pereira - a preview of the Editorial Project of the UnB-Coimbra Partnership to publish the work of D.L. in Luso-Brazilian cooperation.
